Presentation

Gosh...another homework assignment. I'm going to talk about Napoleon Dynamite and the paper I wrote about on his hero's journey. I'm doing this because I felt that this was the more creative of the two papers. While possibly interesting at times and enjoyable for me to write, it does not take much imagination to write the paper on the application of Underground Man's logic and its affects on the world of batman. Really, it just takes a knowledge and understanding of some of the characters in Batman. I pride myself on the Napoleon Dynamite paper for the fact that it was a difficult idea to write about and there were some stretches I had to make in order to prove some of the points I was trying to make. On that note, I am a little bit disappointed in my paper. The style I used in writing it wasn't great and other things. I guess that paper was a prime example of a good, unique idea, but the execution wasn't that good. I think my Batman paper will be more polished and better written, but a less enjoyable project and certainly not as ambitious as my previous essay.

Tell me about it..blows..Napoleon Dynamite, what a NARLEY character dude. I must say I was definately obsessed with that movie for a few months and all of the lines that Napoleon said in the movie. Ill definately agree that this topic is more creative, and Im suprised that your taking the extra stretch to pull this paper together. I also have a Batman paper, but I think that its much better than my first crappy paper that I wrote on Hercules.

Owen,
I am in the same boat as you as I picked my first paper because I think it was a more creative idea than the second. I did not know that you wrote your paper on Napolean Dynomite, and how he experiences the hero’s journey. I think a presentation on this would be very interesting to see because I had never thought about this before. I also think you should show a movie clip as your visual aid because that movie is amazing, and it would definitely strengthen your presentation. I’m excited to see your presentation on Monday. Great blog!

Napoleon Dynamite > Batman??????
That surprises me that you picked that. I trust your decision though. When you think about it though, tackling a paper that is solely devoted to Napoleon Dynamite's hero journey does seem a little daunting. I know that I wouldn't have had the creative stamina to write that paper. What are you going to put in your presentation? I'm sure that we would all love to watch some clips from the movie. Perhaps a llama petting zoo? I don't think that I would have ever considered Napoleon Dynamite as a hero's journey, but after listening to you talk about it, I definitely see it that way now.

Good luck with this Owen. I have watched Napoleon Dynamite three or four times and I am pretty sure that he is not a hero but please prove me wrong. As far as the issues go with writing style I wouldn't worry about it. For a presentation the curiosity of the artist will translate over into the presentation and the audience will see that. You made the right choice. Keeping the class interested, i assure you, will be easy with a subject matter like the one you chose. The connections to the hero journey on the other hand might not be as easy.
